Clio, -us f.
Clio, the muse of history (click on the SPQR icon at the end of the line). Understand respondit. One of the nine muses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, who perform at festivities on Mt. Olympus, usually under the leadership of Apollo. Hesiod named and described the muses in his epic work on the gods, Theogony. Clio is a serious muse whose services Ovid rarely seeks.

Philippus, Lucius Marcius, the nomen of both father and son, who were married to the sisters Atia, the mother and aunt respectively of Augustus. Maior was consul in 56 BCE, the moneyer of a denarius celebrating on the obverse his ancestor King Ancus and on the reverse the praetor Quintus Marcius Rex, who was commissioned by the Senate in 144 BC to repair the old aqueducts and build the Aqua Marcia to bring water to the Capitolium. Minor was appointed consul suffectus in 38 BCE.
